Conclusion
And now, the moment you have all been waiting for! The answer to my BIG Think Question!
IF I WERE TO MAKE A MOVIE, I WOULD USE:
Karate because I practice that art personally and believe that its techniques are an artistic, flowing blend of hard and soft. It has a very orderly, simple system of rank, and very easy-to-follow rules of etiquette. Karate doesn’t require very much equipment, and is extremely enjoyable, in my opinion. I am always anticipating the next class because it gives me joy to be taught a new set of moves to my kata, or learn a new technique to practice. Also, karate has a rich, colourful history that dates back 612 years, all the way back to the 13th century. Its age makes me think “Oh, I’ve got my own little slice of world history that I'm learning here.” The length of karate’s past is surpassed only by that of taekwondo, which dates back to before the 12th century.
Not only is karate a very fun art to practice, it is also fun as a sport. As a matter of fact, I enjoy it so much I have competed in 2 karate tournaments in my lifetime. You can click here to view pictures of the medals and trophy I have won at the tournaments.
There are many reasons why I wouldn't use another martial art for a movie. I would not choose judo because it has no striking techniques. Taekwondo takes years of dedicated study to become flexible enough to do most of the kicking techniques, and it mainly focuses on its kicks. Kung fu is slightly confusing to use because you are using a blend of arts rather than a single art. I would also not choose kung fu because once you are a black belt you have nowhere new to go, other than a new art. In all of the other arts, you will have to practice the art for most of your lifetime to get to the last rank. If you are a black belt in kung fu, you are stuck at the last rank. But in all the other arts, you can go past the black belt to higher degrees and get that pride of earning a higher rank. In fact, Hanshi Carlos Montalvo is a tenth degree black belt in karate and he is in his late fifties. He started practicing Goju Ryu when he was 11.
To sum up some important points of the martial arts, I would like to state that any martial art you read about here was created for defence, not offence. Even if the art is also a competitive sport, you should only practice it in a registered competition or under the supervision of your instructor in the practice area. Also, most people seem to believe that with a martial art, comes a religion along with it. In all of these 4 arts, this is not the case. There is no religion you must practice to take a martial art. This is just a rumour started by some guy who didn't like martial arts.
